Hallows Eve

Raaar!

Halloween still really hasn’t taken off here in Australia. Occassionally I’ll get the random spirited child knock on the door and most of the time I’m running around the house trying to find something that might pass for the sugar laden goodness they like to consume by the handfull. All I usually have is one or two muesli bars and a couple of broken biscuits. This year however, I am prepared for the onslaught! Chocolate piled high - must resist! Mine will be spent watching scary movies and a bit of Buffy in between.

The reason Buffy is back in the DVD player is kind of a celebration of my completion of the entire set. Season 1 to 7 all in there original collectors box sets. I love love love the Buffy series and they don’t make the three section box sets anymore as they are now selling it in crappy amaray format.. bleh. Having never completed my set with season 7, I was awfully dissapointed to find that I couldn’t buy the collectors edition box set anymore.. anywhere!. So then began my mission to find one.

It took me about 8 weeks of serious searching when I gave up. I had seen the box sets on Ebay before but they were going for ridiculous prices - over $300 per box (theres two boxes in each season.. except for season 1) but I had spotted one which only had a few hours left and was up to $150 -$160 for each box so I nervously put my proxy bid on it and waited, hovering over the refresh button, sweat dripping into my eyes.

At 3 minutes to go, some ass outbid me and I struggled to click refresh, hastily upping my bid. I waited again at which point the prayer had started. Please, just let this nightmare be over! 30 seconds to go and I was outbid again. Major panic set in. I had two windows open, one with each box in it. The other seemed safe but I fumbled trying to refresh the other screen, pop ups attacking me from all directions, system grinding away. I entered the bid and closed the screens. I didn’t want to see the end result.

Two minutes later I received a new email. I maximised my email window, eyes closed tightly, I started to open one, ever so slightly, just to take a peep. Winner! Twice! Good god was I relieved. I’d won both of them for around the $180 mark each which was way below what they were normally going for. It wasn’t much to pay at all for a collectible that isn’t even being made anymore. Clicky here to see my pretty collection ) . So anyway, that’s why I’m watching them again. Now that I have 7, I simply have to start from the beginning again.

If you’re celebrating halloween this evening, or tomorrow, depending on where you are. Have a good one, I hope you have just as much fun!

One big dog

One big dog

Would you look at the size of this thing? He stands 7 feet tall when upright. Strap a saddle on him and charge the kiddies for rides! See more pics of him and the rest of the story over at local6.com

My brother’s dog, a big fraidy cat rottweiler who was ironically named “Satan”, was what I considered to be larger than normal. If he accidentally stepped on your feet, you’d know it. When you have a dog like that come bounding toward you at top speed, it’s best to find a random object to wedge between the two of you, or else don full kevlar gear in preparation because you’re going to come out with battle scars. Not only will you be drenched from head to toe in dog drool, but you’ll be wearing yeti sized footprints on your favourite white shirt for weeks to come.

Satan’s most memorable feat (yes I’m still talking about the dog) was however, managing to devour an entire hidden stash of Easter eggs. He was discovered skulking in the corner, his face covered in chocolate with an incredibly guilty look on his face. Needless to say, he spent the remainder of the day feeling rather queasy.

New Beginnings

October 29th, 2005

This is the post that marks the return of shadowmuse! Sounds like something a superhero might say when introducing the inevitable sequal. It’s been an eon between posts, quite literally. I had decided at one point to redesign, then that decision led to not designing, which led to taking an extended break, which led to me deciding the break had been long enough and I should return to once again invoke the musings of an erratic mind ( that’s erratic, not erotic)

There’s a plethora of updates to be made on what’s going on with me, which will in time find their way on to these pages. I’ve got most of the site back up, a few odds and ends to clear up. I’m really looking forward to getting back into writing. I’ve missed being able to use this outlet.

I discovered a lot of my old favs had dissapeared off the net entirely and had to removed a whole load of links. Luckily most of them are still around, going strong, so I’m easily pleased ;) I’ve also lost all my previous comments, of which there were a ton. So nothing in archives has comments now.

My database fried on my old site. I’ve had to move hosts since then and am a very happy girlie where I am now. Super speedy, no downtime (watch there be downtime now ..) and a few more gadgets to play with. So that unforunately means I’m left to enter all my old posts manually, which I am doing a little each day. There are over 500 posts so it will take a few months but what the hey. I’m entering them all in backward chronological order, so you’ll notice them fill up the archives slowly until eventually I’m back on par.
