It seemed like yesterday was Christmas Eve, don’t know what happened to those inbetween days..I’ve had to remove my blogrolling links for the time being. It seems their site has gone down and so making my site load at snail pace. It tries to find the blogrolling links first..anyway it’s disabled for now, you can still find the links on the full list page and I’ll put it back when the blogrolling site is back up.
I’m quite looking forward to 2006. A chance to start again afresh. This year is going to be a heap different from my previous, in more ways than one and in many better ways also. Still hot today and looking to be a scorcher tomorrow. New Years day looks like it’s going to be a day of air conditioning worship.
So I wish everyone a Happy New Year
Hope everyone is scribbling down those resolutions you know we never keep hehe. Have a good night whatever you may doing and I’ll be back next year ;)

It’s still hot. The humidity is sitting right up there in the 80 to 90 percent mark and the temperatures at night sit in the high 20s. Hanging out a load of washing brings on a lather of sweat, geez walking to the fridge brings on one too. Its nasty and I’m officially over summer. Bring on Winter, I’ll be waiting with open arms
There’s not a lot to do between Christmas and New Year. It’s that dreaded space inbetween where you have all this free time to do things (those that haven’t had to go back to work for a few days - poor things) and yet nothing can really be achieved because this holiday thing is not quite over. Take this job seeking crusade I’m on. I’ve gone from getting almost 30 jobs in my daily email to a very insignificant 2. Yesterday there was none. Today there’s a whole 2 job listings! Hurrah!
Most of these said listings are in the City and hell’s minions will start building snowmen before I go back to working in Sydney. Public transport over an hour each way and uber early mornings make for a very long, frustrating day and it’s just not worth it. So there’s nothing out there. The time when I need a job the most, nobody is hiring :XD: I miss money.
Anyone know what they’re doing for New Year? I need some suggestions because once again, I’ve got nothing planned. Yep the uh, I don’t need no plans, I like spontaneity gig is reeeally working for me. I wanna see fireworks but that involves going into Sydney, so again with the hell’s minions… Hmm. It’s not the same watching them on TV - The Fireworks.. not the minions.

Christmas has come and gone again for another year. My parents gave me an absolutely beautiful silver padlock bracelet and some of my fav yummy perfume, “Eau Dynamisante.” James gave me some beautiful bohemian style wire and beaded candle holders and candles. He said he wanted to buy me something unique and special and not just something on my list that I knew I would be getting. He is such a sweetheart, he knows me so well.
Lunch was a success. I cooked the whole traditional turkey and veges with a not so traditional pannatonne and brandy custard for afters
The rest of the afternoon was just a rather lazy haze of indulgent yumminess. Relaxing and watching some movies and talking. Was something I’ll always remember, even though it wasn’t anything spectacular or grand.
Boxing day has passed now too. James was telling me they don’t have boxing day and it’s straight back to normal for them. Weird heh, I can’t imagine Christmas without the two day holiday. I can imagine the shops will be overflowing with people wanting to get in early for the post-Christmas sales tomorrow. I’m not sure I want to be within 10 miles of the plaza when that happens, we’ll see. If we get too bored, we might gather our courage and venture down there.

Well it’s the eve of Christmas here and the weather has decided to bless us with a southerly change bringing in a beautiful cool breeze. Not sure what we’re going to do as yet, staying in or going out. The air is charged with energy, kids are running around grins from ear to ear. Mothers and fathers are looking more frazzled than smiley but I’m sure once the kiddies are tucked up into bed and they get a chance to put their feet up and relax that will all change.
So I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas. I hope you all have a great day whatever you may be doing to celebrate this year. James and I bought each other our pressies earlier and have tucked them under the tree much to both our curiosity. The cat has no idea it’s Christmas and is spread out on the floor enjoying the cool change.
The people I’ve met through blogging, who I have been privileged to get to read into their daily lives are genuinely deserving, lovely people. The world is so diverse and it’s that diversity that makes it a beautiful place to live in. I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and I hope you have a great day!

It’s looking to be in the high 30’s for christmas. Possibly even around the 40 degree mark. What that means for me is staying indoors in front of the air conditioner doing as little as possible. It’s hot, it’s uncomfortable, it’s yuck. I’d take a snowy christmas any time over this crap. The humidity is around the 90 percent mark, it’s hard to breath, you sweat just sitting in your chair.. and this is 11pm at night.
I’m back officially
ADSL is back on, yay for speed! Dial up was an experience I’d not like to revisit again anytime soon. The house is partially set up although this heat is making it hard to want to move around heavy boxes. Last night we even got to experience the neighbour singing at the top of her lungs to an old Wendy Matthews album. Oh god.. not only can I not stand Wendy Matthews, but the shrieking coming from this womans mouth was enough to bring you to tears. She decided to continue this awful performance well into the night, with all windows and doors open until she finally stopped at around midnight.
I bought the turkey lurkey today, a ham, some crackers and a baking tray. Got all I should need for Christmas lunch anyway. It’s only going to be James and I due to lack of funds to do much of anything else and all the moving business right in the middle of it all. It should be really nice though. We’ll probably go out and find something else to do Christmas night. It would be nice to spend Christmas with my family but I just can’t get up there. They live 6 hours away and our petrol prices just keep going up. About $1.19 per litre at the moment. Plus Simba isn’t booked in to any Cat kennels and no one would take him at this late stage. We will just have to arrange something for after Christmas.
I have no idea how to cook a turkey. I’ve done it once before I think.. but can’t remember much about the process. It will be a learning experience this one
Thank goodness for the marvels of the internet, I’m sure I’ll find something to help me.

Well the move was a success and most of it is done. There’s a few things back at the old house to do (including cleaning ..bleh) but not much left to move, maybe a couple of boxes and my aquarium.
I really don’t like moving at all and even though I had a removalist take almost all of the bigger items this time around, I think next time I’ll get one to move it all. I only have a small car and have to make a lot of trips back and forth to move the remainder. This new place is 25 minutes away from the old so it’s quite a trip.
Simba is adjusting slowly. He’s still pissed at me I think and spends most of his day underneath the bed upstairs. Everytime he hears a noise from the neighbours he bolts back upstairs and hides. I hope he gets used to it soon. At least he’s now starting to complain a little about being indoors and wanting to be let out - that’s the old Simba coming back.
The new place is great, cosy, feels like home finally that everything is moved in. It’s a little noisier here and I have to get used to the fact that I have a whole heap of neighbours in close proximity (used to being in a seperate house for the most part) but I guess I’ll adjust to it all. Position wise it’s great, right near the train station and only 3 minutes from the gym. Couldn’t be any happier with that set up. The only thing I’m dissapointed about really is the fact that Christmas is taking a backseat this year for the most part. I’m not really adjusting to that well because Christmas has always been a big deal for me and I love getting into the decorating and organising and gift buying. This year I have very little money, no time to organise christmasy things amongst all the unpacking and almost no idea what I’m going to be doing or spending it with
No news on the job front, still looking for work. I really need the money right now so I’m down to taking anything I can get. There always seems to be someone with better qualifications or more experience or confidence. I’m not much for the competitive thing so I’m not standing out as the obvious choice. I hope the new year brings about some opportunity on that front.
Thank you so much for the well wishes on the move
I’ll be back to full time blogging in no time. Right now I’m on dial up waiting for the ADSL to be set up on this line. Oh my god, after having the luxury of broadband, 56k modems are hellish. I waited almost 7 minutes for my mail to finish popping up this morning and pages take millenniums to load. Not sure how long it’s going to take to get online, let’s hope soon. My latency on World of Warcraft is at 3500 lol. That’s horrible. There’s a 15 second pause between attacks and spells. I can’t even stealth on command
Heh, anyway, it’s all temporary and things will be back to normal shortly.
In other REALLY good news..A starbucks just opened up right near where I live. Thank god for that. Frappuccinos on demand!

I may not be around that much for the next week. I’m in the process of moving all my junk to the new house and thus having to unplug the computer (and adsl not being connected for a looong while
) I’ll try to update when I can, probably via library or god knows what but I’ll be back in the swing of it all once I get settled. Fun! Moving is a pain.

Yay! We finally found a new house! It’s a gorgeous little 2 storey townhouse back in the area I was living in before. It’s super cheap too which was a complete shock for us. We had just got over seeing a horrible house the day before. They wanted more for this place and I’m surprised the house was still standing. It boasted being in “original condition with airconditioning” and yeah original condition was right.
The place was falling apart. It had an outside bathroom attached to the house and the shower was just a concrete ditch. There were cockroaches stuck to the walls and the airconditioner was jammed into the wall and fixed with brown packaging tape. There was also an old wrecked car in the backyard and most of the windows were either broken or held up with screwdrivers.
There was a young guy there looking at it the same time we were and he wanted it right there and then. He wanted to know if it was ok to fill the application in without his girlfriend “cos she was breastfeedin’ and cant get out ‘ere” Oh my god! I couldn’t believe this guy was able to even think of letting his child run around in this place.. It wasn’t even safe.
So obviously we ran like hell from that place and then the next day we found our dream place. They wanted less than the house from hades and it was in gorgeous condition, practically new, modern and fully renovated. We snapped it up straight away and began the agonising wait to hear from the real estate about whether we were approved. They finally rang and we sign the contract on Tuesday! Everything is starting to look like it might just work out nicely after all

I’ve been reading a little about peoples responses to the Xbox 360 and it doesn’t look good. People are claiming it was released too early, rushed out with a plethora of bugs attached to it. It overheats, it’s power hungry, muching up 170 watts. The only pieces of A/V gear that draw more power are big-screen high-definition TVs. It’s overpriced, at around $400US ($531AU) and now it also comes with the added feature of eating your games!
Check this article out over at llama.com. It explains how moving the console while a disc is inserted with scratch it badly and some customers have even reported it scratching without moving.
Here’s a short 1.5mb video showing the Xbox eating a disc.

I am having some serious problems with my computer at present. Every time I boot up it loads completely, then restarts itself automatically and puts up an error message that it has recovered from a serious error. My ADSL modem isn’t working properly either. It takes about 6 tries to connect and randomly it will drop out during the day, not the actual connection to my ISP but it seems like the power or the USB lights drop out and it loses connection.
It’s driving me crazy trying to figure out what’s going on. I’m hovering over the idea of reformating … again. I don’t know wether to buy a new modem or do the clean sweep thing or what. It seems like a serious misconfiguration problem somewhere. I also can’t shut down my computer properly anymore, it just hangs at the windows is shutting down screen.
My mum and dad are coming down to visit and help me find a new place and get organised today so I’ll be fairly busy with that and won’t have a lot of time to find out what’s up with it. Looks like I’m going to have to fork out for a new modem though. The old one - a speedtouch 530 - is a horrible device and was from the word go (and a discontinued one at that.. I wonder why) so I’m going to have research a bit on a new one. I don’t even know where to start.
