Reality

July 11th, 2007

Wow, haven’t I been bad with the updating of ones life. I seem to be drifting along in some strange me bubble lately where my surroundings are alien and inconsistent with what I consider should be my life. Eh..

Anyway, Big brother? You either love reality shows or hate them. There really isn’t an in-between. Unless of course you are me. I find myself drawn to these strange network executive contrived brain cell killing programs. In fact when Americas next top model was announced as coming to ten I squealed with excitement like a Sailor Moon fan boy. I watch Big Brother at least twice a week. I try not to allow myself to be drawn into the “daily shows” too much as after I’m done I feel like I’ve really lost half an hour of my life. However the thrill of eviction is certainly something I can’t seem to miss. I don’t know why. It may have a lot to do with my love of perception and people watching. (not in a creepy way OK! ) Sometimes I just want to leave my brain in bed and watch something fun or silly.

BB 07 I love it when I find a thread on some forum bitching about how immoral BB is and how crap it is and how the network should remove such rubbish immediately. They of course go on to explain in infinite detail everything they don’t like about what particular people have done or said and it makes me laugh. How the hell did you know all of that if you have no interest in the show. Unless you’re are glued to your chair or are being forced to watch the show, get up and turn it off. You don’t have to watch it, we have freedom of choice yeah?

Anyway, I brought this up because I thought an episode aired a week or so ago was absolutely hilarious, in an awkward, embarrassing odd sort of way.

One of the Friday Night Live events was a spelling bee. Daniela and Joel were the finalists and had to spell a number of given words back and forth until there was a clear winner. Their spelling was horrid.

First up was Daniela with the word kookaburra. She spelled it koockaburra. Next up Joel had the word marsupial, which he spelled marcupial. A number of misspellings later and the final words were the worst of all. Daniela butchered the spelling of phlegm into ‘flemg’ and Joel decided Daiquiri was best spelled ‘dacery’. The final word gave Daniela the win when Joel decided to remove the m completely from the world triumphantly. | Holy crap! I think I recall learning these words in primary school.

Aleisha and Zach ftw!

NPC Neighbours

July 5th, 2007

Sometimes I think my street is full of programmed NPCs

Thursday night is bin night, as in the taking away of no longer needed items of once good usefulness. Wow I just sounded like a bad anime dub.

Every Thursday at exactly the same time, to the second, people emerge from their homes lugging their bins to the edge of the curb. This behaviour is followed soon after by the placing of recycling bins beside aforementioned bins. My scenario is a little more like this.

Friday morning I wake vaguely, my sleep having been interrupted by the loud clanging of machinery on plastic. I curse the inconsiderate nature of such people and go back to sleep. A few hours later I wake startled having suddenly remembered that Thursday is bin night and today is Friday. There’s some considerable cursing again and a sudden belief that even though the trucks came hours ago, It still might be possible to get the bins out on time.

I rush out the door in disbelief noting bins scattered over the road, some with lids askew and my hope is squashed by the realisation that my garbage will stay unmoved for another week. Luckily the recycling people come mid afternoon on Friday so one out of two ain’t bad.

My neighbours NEVER forget that it’s bin night. Some of them have been known to put out their bins as early as Wednesday…

They mow their lawns on the same day, do their washing on the same day, get the mail.. you get the idea.

I’m half tempted to walk up to one and ask them where I can find the nearest auction house. Perhaps if I click on them they’ll say hello.
